Oscar Isaac Hunts Nazis in 'Operation Finale' Trailer
"If you fail, he escapes justice, perhaps forever," Oscar Isaac is told of his Nazi hunting mission in the trailer for "Operation Finale." "I beg you do not fail."
Isaac plays real-life Mossad agent Peter Malkin, who infiltrates Argentina in search of Nazi Adolf Eichmann (Ben Kingsley), a top lieutenant of Adolf Hitler. Eichmann was the logistical mastermind responsible for the deportation of millions of Jews to their deaths in concentration camps and fled to South America after World War II.
Malkin and fellow agents work to track him down, capture him, then smuggle him out of Argentina to face trial in Israel — even if they are tempted to just put a bullet in his head.
The trailer teases an intense and thrilling cat-and-mouse game, a fairly black and white one at that. Perhaps the movie gives Eichmann some shades of gray, but it's hard to see beyond the monster when he says things like, "My job was simple. Save the country I loved from being destroyed."
"Operation Finale" also stars Mélanie Laurent, Nick Kroll, Joe Alwyn, Haley Lu Richardson, and Greta Scacchi, and opens in theaters September 14.
