'Orange Is the New Black' Set to End After Season 7
You're going to need a new "Orange Is the New Black" in your life.
The sad news came from Netflix on Thursday, Oct. 17. The show's official social media account posted a video announcing that Season 7 would be its last; in it, the "OITNB" cast talked about what a run it has been. While it's hard for both the show's stars and fans, the video did promise a great seventh and final season.
The cast got to weigh in on the show's end in the video, but several of the actors also added further comments on social media. Here are some of their posts so far:
"Orange Is the New Black" premiered on Netflix in July 2013, and it quickly became a hit. From its first season, it began racking up awards and nominations. The show itself has been a frequent awards show contender and its stars have earned numerous awards, including Uzo Aduba, Taylor Schilling, Kate Mulgrew, Laura Prepon, Natasha Lyonne, and Laverne Cox.
Season 7 is the last in a three-season renewal that came in 2016, as Deadline reports. It will premiere in 2019.
