'Orange Is the New Black' Season 5 Has 'Surprises' & 'a Cliffhanger'
Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black" Season 4 ended on a major cliffhanger, and it sounds like Season 5 has a similar plan. Jackie Cruz (Flaca) talked to Entertainment Tonight about Season 5, saying there will "definitely" be justice for Poussey (Samira Wiley), among other things, when Season 5 arrives on June 9:
"It's going to be great. It's things that you haven't seen before, a lot of surprises, and we're left with a cliffhanger. It's amazing. It just keeps getting better. [Writer] Jenji Kohan is a genius."
OITNB Season 5 is meant to be a departure for the show in that the 13 episodes will all take place over the course of just three days, following the riot that started at the end of Season 4. Netflix already shared the first minute of the new season, plus several first-look photos to tease the action ahead.
Back in January at the SAG Awards, several "Orange" stars talked about what's next. "[I]t will be very detailed, very intense, and you better get ready," Danielle Brooks (Taystee) told E!. "Get your popcorn, your tissues, everything." Taylor Schilling (Piper) added, "I think the stakes are higher in this season than they have been in a while just by virtue of the compressed time and seeing people in compressed circumstance really raises the stakes."
"Orange Is the New Black" Season 5 starts streaming Friday, June 9 on Netflix.
