Patrick J. Adams Returning for 'Suits' Final Season (But Still No Meghan Markle)
Mike Ross is coming back: Original "Suits" star Patrick J. Adams will return to the USA drama series during its upcoming final season.
It's currently unclear if Adams -- who left the show after season seven -- will be appearing in the "Suits" series finale, but according to Deadline, he'll be starring in at least one episode before then. The trade reports that Adams will reprise his role as Mike in episode five of season nine, where "he gets involved in a case that puts him toe to toe with Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Samantha Wheeler (Katherine Heigl)."
On Twitter, Adams likened his "Suits" return to "going home," and added in a statement to Deadline that he "couldn’t be happier to be part of the final chapter" of the drama series.
"I’ve missed my TV family, and am looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble Mike Ross can stir up at the firm one last time," the actor added.
Deadline also reported that Adams was expected to appear in the show's series finale episode, though neither Adams nor "Suits" creator and showrunner Aaron Korsch would confirm that detail. Korsch hinted that Adams "may or may not be back again," depending on his schedule filming the new Nat Geo series "The Right Stuff."
As for another former "Suits" star, Meghan Markle -- who retired from acting ahead of her star-studded 2018 wedding to England's Prince Harry -- will almost certainly not be joining her onscreen spouse for one final appearance. Echoing comments he made earlier this year, Korsch told Deadline, "There is always a chance she is going to pick up the phone and call me and say can I come back, and if she did she would be welcome back her with arms wide open. But no, l don’t see that happening."
At least we'll always have Mike and Rachel's wedding to remember Markle by.
Season nine of "Suits" is set to start production this month. For more details about Adams's return and the season nine storyline, read Deadline's full report here.
