Perfect 'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Poster Blends Ice & Fire (But Mostly Ice)
When asked for a one-word tease to promote "Game of Thrones" Season 7, actor Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark) picked "connections." You can see some of the connections right in the Season 7 poster, which debuted at SXSW in Austin.
The HBO show is called "Game of Thrones," but that's just the name of the first book in author George R.R. Martin's seven-tome series, called "A Song of Ice and Fire." From the beginning, it's looked like Jon Snow (Kit Harington) represents the ice, and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) is the fire. Are they finally ready to combine?
Should we read into the fact that it's mostly ice with just a little bit of fire? Does winter win this round, in the penultimate season? Points the ponder...
Season 6 ended with Dany crossing the Narrow Sea to Westeros, and we're expecting her dragon fire to meet Jon's Northern ice, as they (hopefully?) team up to battle the true threat to mankind, the White Walkers making their way to The Wall.
Fans noticed that HBO has been airing very brief "In Production Now" teases from the set of "Game of Thrones" Season 7, and now we have this poster. We're on standby for the big honkin' trailer that always gets us hyped for the next season. It could show up at any time. Season 7, which will include seven episodes, premieres this summer on HBO, but no official date has been revealed. (Probably late June or July, is a safe bet.) Season 8, the final season, is rumored to start filming in September.
