'Pretty Little Liars' Will End After Season 7
"Pretty Little Liars" is coming to an end: After some speculation late last year, Freeform officially announced on Monday that the show would wrap for good after its upcoming seventh season.
The news first broke during a Facebook Live interview featuring showrunner I. Marlene King and stars Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, and Sasha Pieterse. Season seven will consist of 10 episodes and premiere in April 2017; the series will wrap with a two-hour finale.
Here's a breakdown of what fans can expect during this final batch of episodes, per Deadline:
PLL's final season will continue to be filled with homecomings and reunions, bringing back old characters as it has already done in the first half of the season, including Wren Kingston (Julian Morris), Pastor Ted Wilson (Edward Kerr), Jenna Marshall (Tammin Sursok), Paige McCullers (Lindsey Shaw) and Sydney Driscoll (Chloe Bridges). A #PLLWedding for one of the Liars is also in store for the latter half of the season.
Freeform exec Karey Burke praised the show for its pioneering use of social media, which "paved the way for television shows, writers and cast to interact and engage with audiences on a national and global scale like never before."
King also released a statement on "PLL"'s end:
"It's been an honor to work with such a talented cast and crew over the last seven years. We are a family, and it will be hard to say goodbye to a show that has made such an impact on young audiences and been a mouthpiece for cultural change. I'm excited for fans to finally have all of their questions answered, and I believe they will be satisfied with the wild ride that is our last ten episodes."
"Pretty Little Liars" wraps up its current run with its summer finale on Tuesday, August 30. Here's hoping the Final Five will be able to make it to the set before the show's over forever.
