'Project Runway' Renewed for 3 More Seasons, 'All Stars' Renewed for 2
Lifetime is staying in the "Project Runway" business for the foreseeable future: The cable network has renewed the fashion design reality series for three more seasons.
Project Runway All Stars" and "Project Runway Junior," for additional episodes as well. "All Stars" got a two-season pickup, which will see it through to season seven, while "Junior" was renewed for one more season, following its series debut late last year (it had already been renewed for a second season; Thursday's announcement will keep it on the air through season three).
While many venerable shows see a significant dip in ratings later in their lives -- and "Runway" certainly has shed some of its audience over the years -- Deadline reports that the show's season 14 finale last fall actually grew in viewership, boasting the series's best numbers since the season 12 finale back in 2013. In a statement announcing the renewal, A+E president and CEO Nancy Dubuc praised the show's "incredibly loyal audience" for helping to keep it on the air. Weinstein Company co-chairman Harvey Weinstein added in another statement that the series "has made a lasting mark on television history." (You could say they "made it work," Tim Gunn-style.)
We're happy to know that we'll be watching designers frantically try to sew a couture dress in under 24 hours for many more years to come. "Project Runway" begins production on season 15 next month. No word yet on a premiere date.
