Ryan Gosling in 'Gilmore Girls'? It Could Have Happened
You can mourn what never was, and here's proof: "Gilmore Girls" and didn't get the part.
During this weekend's inaugural "Gilmore Girls" Fan Festival in Washington Depot, Connecticut, casting director Jami Rudofsky revealed that Gosling once auditioned for a small role on the beloved comedy-drama series. Apparently, she brought him in after previously casting him in an independent film and thinking he was "amazing" (in spite of the fact that he showed up late to his tryout).
Sadly, her "Gilmore Girls" colleagues didn't agree. When he came in to audition for a role as "a football character," the others weren't impressed.
"Everyone was like, 'Really, Jami?'" she said, according to Vulture.
Obviously, Rudofsky was onto something, though. Gosling went on to become an Academy Award nominee and has appeared in films like "The Big Short," "Drive," and the upcoming "Blade Runner 2049."
We won't waste too much energy lamenting what could have been. The actor didn't need "Gilmore Girls" to steal our hearts -- and besides, there's enough rivalry among the show's fans without "Team Football Character" having been thrown into the mix.
