Samuel L. Jackson will executive produce the film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-nominated 1991 play "East Texas Hot Links," about how one night in a "colored only" bar in 1950s Texas changed the lives of the town's African-American community.

Jackson is said to be a longtime friend of the playwright, Eugene Lee, who'll direct the movie version based on his script, Deadline reports.

John Beasley of TV's "The Soul Man," who staged a revival of the play in 2012, will star and also be one of the producers. Shooting is expected to start next spring.

No word on other casting; Loretta Devine appeared in the critically acclaimed Los Angeles run of the play.
