Welcome to "Saturday Night Live," Mikey Day, Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor!

NBC announced that the trio is joining the 42nd season of "SNL" as featured players. Day has been a writer on the show for three years, but he'll now move on screen. Moffat was a writer and cast member on "Maya & Marty," another NBC show produced by Lorne Michaels.

And Villaseñor, a Los Angeles comedian who was a finalist on "America's Got Talent," becomes the first Latina player on the late night sketch series. She's the third cast member in "SNL" history with Latin roots, following Fred Armisen and Horatio Sanz.

"SNL" often juggles its cast between seasons, but this summer's shakeup was particularly surprising, with veteran players Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah departing. It's a bit surprising that none of the new cast members is a black actor, as Pharoah's absence leaves a void of impressions from President Barack Obama to Jay-Z.

This fall should be a big one for "SNL" with the presidential election heating up. The show has yet to announce a host for its Oct. 1 premiere.
