Steve Carell Met Kelly Clarkson, and Yes, They Talked About 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin'
Almost 13 years after he famously blurted out her name in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," Steve Carell finally met Kelly Clarkson. And yes, they definitely talked about that instantly iconic scene.
The actor and the singer introduced themselves during Sunday night's Golden Globe Awards, where Carell was up for the Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy award for his role in "Battle of the Sexes," and Clarkson presented the Best Original Song statuette. During a commercial break, when stars typically mingle, the pair took the opportunity to snap a selfie together and chat about the time Carell gave Clarkson a shout-out for the ages.

One of my favorite moments of my life! I love you and your lovely wife! #ahhhhhhhstevecarellhttps://t.co/oCl6wiSRoj

For the uninitiated, the moment in question occurs during a scene where Carell's character, Andy, is getting his extremely hairy chest waxed (and yes, Carell was getting an actual wax in the movie, blood and all). Thanks to that thick mat, it takes a lot of effort on the part of the esthetician, leading an increasingly pained Andy to scream out a stream of random curses -- including, oddly enough, invoking Clarkson's name.
As "40-Year-Old Virgin" director Judd Apatow pointed out on Twitter, it seemed like only a matter of time before the pair met, and thankfully, the stars finally aligned this weekend. Obviously, it was a delightful encounter for both the actor and the singer (her hashtag is especially hilarious), and we're pretty delighted, too.
