The new biopic "Steve Jobs" has generated positive reviews and Oscar buzz for Michael Fassbender for his portrayal of the late Apple cofounder.

But many of those close to Jobs are deeply unhappy with the film, including his widow Laurene Powell Jobs, who “repeatedly tried to kill the film," the Wall Street Journal reports.

Powell Jobs contacted both Sony Pictures Entertainment, which developed the script, and Universal Pictures, which is distributing "Steve Jobs," seeking to block the release of the movie, which opens Friday, according to theWall Street.

She also refused to participate in the production because she didn't like the bestselling biography by Walter Isaacson from which screenwriter Aaron Sorkin adapted the movie

Powell Jobs "refused to discuss anything in Aaron’s script that bothered her despite my repeated entreaties,” producer Scott Rudin tells the Wall Street Journal, adding that she "continued to say how much she disliked the book, and that any movie based on the book could not possibly be accurate.”
