"Supergirl" fans are not happy with The CW's new on-off-on-off schedule.

The Arrowverse is doing some timeslot gymnastics in early 2018. "Supergirl" Season 3 will return on January 15, but after not quite a month it'll give way to "Legends of Tomorrow" for nine episodes. That's because "Black Lightning" is premiering, and it's taking the former "Legends" spot on Tuesdays after "The Flash."

Here's the new winter 2018 schedule, via TVLine:

  • Monday, Jan. 15: "Supergirl" resumes Season 3
  • Tuesday, Jan. 16: "Black Lighting" premieres, in Legends time slot
  • Monday, Feb. 12: "Legends" resumes Season 3, in Supergirl's time slot
  • Monday, April 9: "Legends" Season 3 finale
  • Monday, April 16: "Supergirl" re-resumes Season 3
  • Monday, June 18: "Supergirl" Season 3 finale

The schedule change has gotten a lot of reaction, with some fans wondering if "Supergirl" had to take a break because they lost their fired showrunner. Maybe. Maybe not. It has prompted a Change.org petition to The CW and president Mark Pedowitz, though, asking that they leave "Supergirl" where it is, and move "Legends" somewhere else:

Today it was revealed that Legends of Tomorrow will replace Supergirl at its Monday timeslot from February 12th til April 16th. In response to this we the fans are calling for Supergirl to not be changed or Legends of Tomorrow to be moved to another night.

To have a 9 week break to let another show have its time is [a]bsurd and it will tarnish the shows viewer ratings as it will be off for over two months and a lot of people will wonder if the show has been cancelled or moved elsewhere.

This is a petition to try and fight for whats right."

As of this moment, around 4,200 fans have signed the petition. "Supergirl" already changed networks from CBS to The CW, so it's used to being shuffled around. Hopefully this latest change doesn't bode ill for the future of the (pretty low-rated, these days) show.

One bit of good news, from TVLine, is that when "Supergirl" returns, Krys Marshall will join the cast in the recurring role of Julia Freeman. She's described as a "20-something musician living near National City who holds clues to Reign's true identity."
