Netflix's great idea to revisit "The Baby-Sitters Club" is officially a go. The project was reported to be in the works in May, and now it has been picked up.

The streamer announced Thursday that it has given the series a 10-episode order. Like the beloved book series by Ann M. Martin, the show will follow teens Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, and Dawn Schafer and their adventures in babysitting. It's a family-friendly adaptation that comes more than 30 years after the first book, "Kristy's Great Idea," was published.

"The themes of 'The Baby-Sitters Club' still resonate 30 years after the original book series was released and there has never been a more opportune time to tell an aspirational story about empowering young female entrepreneurs," said Melissa Cobb, vice president of Kids & Family at Netflix, in a statement.

There are more than 200 books in the series, and more than 180 million copies have been sold to date. The books were first adapted to series in 1990, and a film followed in 1995.

The new series comes from Walden Media and Michael De Luca, who is set to executive produce. Lucy Kitada of De Luca Productions will also executive produce, alongside Lucia Aniello ("Broad City"), who will also direct. Rachel Shukert ("GLOW") is set to serve as showrunner, and Martin and Walden Media's Naia Cucukov will produce.

No release date has been announced, but we look forward to seeing the next iteration of "The Baby-Sitters Club."
