'The Huntsman' Moves Forward With New Director, And Maybe Emily Blunt Too
The sequel to "Snow White and The Huntsman" has had a tumultuous road to production, but it looks like "The Huntsman" is about to get off the ground. It only took a week for Universal to replace Frank Darabont, who jumped ship last week; the studio has hired Cedric Nicolas-Troyan to direct this 2016 action/fantasy flick.
Nicolas-Troyan was the second unit director and visual effects supervisor for "Snow White and The Huntsman," and even got an Oscar nomination for the latter. He also worked on "Maleficent" as the second unit director. He's attached to a remake of "Highlander," but we all know there can be only one... Plus, "The Huntsman" is scheduled for release on April 22, 2016.
Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron will reprise their roles as the Huntsman and Ravenna, before Snow White (Kristen Stewart) appeared on the scene. Emily Blunt is currently in talks to play Ravenna's sister, possibly the Snow Queen. Sadly, they will probably not be building a snowman in "The Huntsman."
