'The Nun' Trailer Takes 'The Conjuring' Universe Straight to Hell
Hide yo kids, hide yo wife, hide yo husband -- 'cause "The Nun" is coming, and she'll do more than rap your knuckles with a ruler.
Director Corin Hardy's "The Nun" is a spinoff of "The Conjuring 2" and the fifth film in the "Conjuring" franchise. It's also billed as "The Darkest Chapter" in the series to date.
On Tuesday, the creepy poster and first photo were released as a preview for the first trailer. The teaser trailer was released Wednesday, and it immediately commands viewers to "Make sure you watch to the end":"The Nun" is set in 1950s Romania, as a prequel to each of the movies the "Conjuring" universe. It stars Demián Bichir as exorcist Father Burke, and Taissa Farmiga (younger sister of "Conjuring" star Vera Farmiga) as Sister Irene.

Here's the synopsis for "The Nun":
"When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order's unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in 'The Conjuring 2,' as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned."
"The Nun" opens in theaters on September 7th.
