'The Originals' Spinoff: Danielle Rose Russell, Matt Davis Attached to Star
Like "The Vampire Diaries" before it, "The Originals" may get a spinoff.
The CW has a series in development that would star Danielle Rose Russell and Matt Davis, Variety reports. The two actors are reportedly attached to reprise their respective roles as Hope Mikaelson and Alaric Saltzman. Davis has played his character is both "TVD" and "The Originals," whereas Hope was only introduced in the latter. The character was originally played by several babies and toddlers before Summer Fontana took over the role in Season 4. Now, Russell is picking up the baton in Season 5, which premieres in April.
Little is known about the project so far, but as Variety points out, there has been talk of a story that follows Hope. As the daughter of the Original Hybrid, Klaus (Joseph Morgan), and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), another werewolf-vampire hybrid, she has interesting abilities, especially considering that she can practice also magic. The extent of her powers would definitely be an interesting topic to explore.
The spinoff hasn't been ordered to series yet, but progress is being made. It remains to be seem which, if any, "Originals" stars will join; as of now, the cast reportedly includes Quincy Fouse, Jenny Boyd, Kaylee Bryant, and Aria Shahghasemi.
The final season of "The Originals" premieres April 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
