'The Royals' Canceled by E!, But a New Home (Castle?) Looks Promising
"The Royals" is dead. #LongLivetheRoyals
E! just canceled Elizabeth Hurley's fictional royal drama after four seasons. "The Royals" launched in 2015 as E!'s first original scripted series. The producers are not done telling the Henstridge family's story, and they're actively seeking a new home to continue with Season 5.
According to Deadline, lead producing studio Lionsgate TV has been in talks with E!'s sister cable network Pop for a potential Season 5 pickup.
So that's something for fans to not only keep an eye on, but continue to support through social media, especially at #LongLivetheRoyals.
"The Royals" and Lionsgate shared statements on the cancellation:
It's pretty cool that we live in a time when so many canceled shows are being snapped right up by other networks or streaming outlets. The content gods must be served! That doesn't mean "The Royals" will definitely be picked up, but hope is not lost.
