This Must Be Why 'The Walking Dead' Rarely Shows Baby Judith
First "The Walking Dead" gave us "Where's Carl?!" Now we have "Who's watching Judith?!" Those Grimes children know how to stay talking points.
During the first half of "The Walking Dead" Season 7, fans joked that Negan was spending more time with baby Judith than Rick. Judith is constantly losing babysitters -- Beth, Tyreese, Olivia, Father Gabriel, Carol, Carl, etc. Going into Season 7, Episode 10, it's not clear who is watching Little Ass-Kicker back in Alexandria as Rick, Carl, and others search for Father Gabriel. Maybe, as fans suspect, she is just watching herself at this point. She is Shane's daughter, after all.
Chandler Riggs plays Carl Grimes, and his recent Reddit AMA may have shed some light on why we so rarely see baby Judith, even when it would make more sense to at least show her so we know she's still alive.
Here's a Judith-related Q&A:
Q: How is it working with baby Judith? Does she break the fourth wall often? You guys have such amazing chemistry, it is hard to believe that you're only half siblings. ;)
Chandler Riggs: "oh my lord those babies. they are so difficult. it's a set of twins, and we've had about 7 or 8 different pairs but o man they are so tough to work with. season 5 babies were the easiest, but only because i spent so much time with them and basically forced them to like me. they constantly grab at the boom mic, interrupt our lines, and jump out of our arms screaming "MOMMY" and run out of the room to go find their mom. i'm always thankful when i don't have scenes with them lol edit: they can be fun and very cute, but most of the time they're hard to work with."
Those poor babies. If a child starts screaming for her mom, it's probably time to just take her home and let her be a normal baby instead of making her work with strangers on a TV set. This is a problem for all movies and TV shows, though. Maybe soon we'll have digital babies instead, like they use CGI for Shiva the tiger instead of trying to force a real tiger to do anything.
But this is probably why we don't see too much of Judith -- it's a pain for the other actors but, especially, for the various children who play her. They did not sign contracts for this, and we can't blame them for going full diva on set. Or -- new thought -- what if they are just going Method? They are playing Shane's daughter...
