'Trollhunters' Season 2 Trailer Brings Back a Familiar Voice
"Trollhunters" is back — and so is a very familiar voice.
Netflix released the first trailer for the second season of the animated series from Guillermo del Toro and Dreamworks Animation. The first season, which debuted at the end of 2016, was a big success for Netflix, winning several Daytime Emmys.
The late Anton Yelchin's voice continues on as Jim, the main Trollhunter. Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, with Jim traveling to the Darklands. Season 2 follows his journey there, where he faces new challenges in saving his town and the world from trolls.
Yelchin recorded his dialogue for the first 13 episodes of "Trollhunters" Season 2 before his tragic death in June 2016.
Del Toro told Entertainment Weekly that the story will allow the show to bring in a new voice actor.
"Coincidentally, we have an event in the last episode Anton did which allows us to sort of change his voice slightly, so the character stays — but we didn't plan this. It was pure serendipity that we had that in the works," he said. "The beats of the second season have been set for years, and as of now, we have not altered or needed to alter a single beat."
"Trollhunters" Season 2 premieres December 15 on Netflix.
