Oops! TV Academy Confuses Cuba Gooding Jr. & Terrence Howard at 2016 Emmys
Every year it happens at least once. At the 2016 Emmy Awards, it happened to Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr.
@TelevisionAcad, an official Emmys account with more than 170,000 followers, accidentally used a photo of "Empire" actor Terrence Howard with the caption "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series nominee @cubagoodinjr at the #Emmys red carpet!"
Several fans were quick to point out the mistake:
I'm sorry, but how the hell does one confuse Terrence Howard for Cuba Gooding Jr? pic.twitter.com/SnTrusC9mk

The tweet was eventually corrected with Howard's name. As Huffington Post noted, this is similar to the Oprah/Whoopi confusion at the Oscars.

And you may recall how E! misidentified another red-haired actress as Sophie Turner at the Golden Globes.
It happens!
