"Veep" Season 7 will be the HBO comedy's last hurrah.

Star and executive producer Julia Louis-Dreyfus broke the news Wednesday in a THR interview, explaining that they didn't want to get repetitive and the timing felt right. Showrunner David Mandel was on the same page, saying that "it's bittersweet but it's right."

They have already determined the arc of the seventh season, and apparently, the story will come to a natural end.

"It became clear that this season should be the last season," Louis-Dreyfus told THR. "We don't want to repeat ourselves or wear out our welcome. The story has a finality to it that feels end-of-series."

Like Mandel, she is sad to wrap up their Emmy-winning show; she called it "a role of a lifetime." Still, she reminded fans in a tweet that there is still another season to enjoy.

Meanwhile, HBO Programming President Casey Bloys shared similar sentiments. He called the series' end bittersweet, and highlighted its accomplishments as well as the remaining season.

"We love the show and everyone involved but respect the producers' choice to bring Selina Meyer's journey to its conclusion after an extraordinary run of critical and award-winning acclaim," he said in a statement. "Julia Louis-Dreyfus' comedic brilliance infused Selina with a dynamic presence and a vibrant wit which will ensure her a place in the history of television's most iconic comedic characters. We look forward to producing the seventh and final season."

"Veep" Season 7 is expected to premiere in early Spring 2018.
