In the boardroom, Vivica A. Fox has confidence in real estate tycoon Donald Trump. But after her former “Celebrity Apprentice” boss announced his candidacy for President of the United States on June 16, the actress says she has doubts about his ability to hold a higher office.

“I wasn’t surprised when Mr. Trump announced his candidacy,” she explained to “Made in Hollywood.” “But I also think that it’s part publicity stunt for him. I think he’s going to participate for a little while and when ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ comes back again he’ll figure a way to drop out.

She added: “I’m sorry there’s no way he can possibly think that he can defeat Hillary Clinton.”

During his campaign announcement, the billionaire was engulfed in controversy after making derogatory statements while discussing immigration during his campaign speech.

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best... They're sending people who have lots of problems," he said in a speech. "They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime, they're rapists, and some, I assume, are good people."

The 69-year-old republican ticket contender’s comments resulted in a firestorm of criticism from Latino advocacy groups and leaders. Trump’s Miss Universe, Miss USA and “Celebrity Apprentice” partner NBC announced that the network has severed ties with him.

“Mr. Trump is an excellent business man, I admire him and his family, but his ways – his ways of thinking, especially when he says things about immigration and ending Obamacare... just his ways and views cater to a specific audience, a specific brand of people, a specific voting group,” Vivica said, adding, “Somebody that wants to be president of the United States, especially nowadays, there’s so much diversity – you have to appeal to all.”

She continued: “Gays have rights, same sex marriages, so you can’t take us backwards, we have to continue going forward as a country.”

Fox wrapped season seven of “Celebrity Apprentice” in February and most recently appeared in “Chocolate City” – an all-black cast answer to “Magic Mike.” The 51-year-old actress stars as a struggling single mother whose college student son, played by Robert Ri’chard, 32, secretly moonlights as a male stripper after a successful turn at an amateur night.

Also starring Michael Jai White, Tyson Beckford, Ginuwine, Carmen Electra, and real-life male stripper Bolo, the comedy-drama was released in theaters on May 22 and later aired on BET for its broadcast premiere. It is currently available on Video on Demand and will be released Aug. 4 on DVD.

Fox is currently in New Mexico filming the sequel to “Independence Day” – the 1996 actioner that catapulted her to fame. Starring opposite Will Smith, she portrayed Jasmine Dubrow, a stripper. “The character has grown up and she’s now a hospital administrator, and her son, who’s played by the handsome Jessie Usher, is kind of taking on the steps where Will Smith’s character Steven Hiller left off.”

While Smith is noticeably absent from the sequel’s roster, which includes returners Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman, along with newcomers Liam Hemsworth, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward, on its theatrical release June 24 next year, she adds, “Just know that you will see him throughout the film, his presence will definitely be felt.”
