Wesley Snipes Joins 'Coming to America' Sequel Opposite Eddie Murphy
Wesley Snipes is "Coming 2 America."
The actor is joining the sequel to the 1988 Eddie Murphy comedy. "Hustle & Flow" director Craig Brewer is directing from a script written by "Black-ish" creator Kenya Barris.
Snipes, Murphy and Brewer recently collaborated on Netflix's "Dolemite Is My Name," a biopic of comedian Rudy Ray Moore that will premiere at next month’s Toronto International Film Festival.
In "Coming to America," Prince Akeem (Murphy) journeys to America from his wealthy African nation of Zamunda to escape an arranged marriage and find a wife who loves him as a person, not for his royal status.
In the sequel, Akeem will return to America after learning about his long-lost son who is the heir to the throne.
Arsenio Hall is also on board to reprise his role as Akeem's best friend.
Snipes most recently appeared in an episode of FX's vampire comedy "What We Do in the Shadows." His most recent films were 2017's "Armed Response" and "The Recall."
