Will 'The Big Bang Theory' Season 10 Be 'the Ending Point'?
They say all good things must come to an end, but there's no perfect equation for when you should end a good thing like "The Big Bang Theory." The CBS sitcom premiered in 2007 and is now in Season 9 as we head into 2016. It's still a ratings powerhouse -- it's the No. 1 comedy in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demo -- but in addition to the massive cast salaries, the latest episodes have hit several major milestones. Are they getting ready to say goodbye ... or just getting started? The Hollywood Reporter talked to the Powers That Be and it sounds like things could go either way.
THR asked showrunner Steve Molaro if producers were planning Season 10 as if it were the end of the line. Here's how he replied:
I think so. I can't speak to the future or on behalf of the cast or where we'll be then but it's certainly possible that it could go past that. The reality is that maybe season 10 is the ending point. The real answer is I don't know and all I can do right now is go episode to episode and try to make each one the best that we can. There's still so many episodes to go. Even if hypothetically season 10 was the end, I wouldn't be focusing on that yet. That seems like something that would be dealt with way down the line."
Co-creator Chuck Lorre seems to be of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mindset, telling THR:
I never imagined nine [seasons] and here we are. I'm not going to presume to know how many years this has because it's ridiculous for me to guess. It's already gone beyond my wildest dreams so anything beyond this ... as long as everybody is having a good time and we're making a show we're proud of ... then it's worth continuing."
Where do you stand on this? Each season of TBBT has about 24 episodes, so how many more seasons and episodes would you like to see before they wrap things up? Should they quit while they're ahead, so to speak, or keep it going for another 5-10 years, if everyone is up for it?
